Gyrfalcon Painting Wallpaper

This Gyrfalcon painting wallpaper reproduces a work by renowned Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman. A white-phase Gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus) perched on a jagged coastal rock, the grey sea stretching to the horizon behind it, every feather rendered with the photorealistic precision Bateman is celebrated for. The Gyrfalcon is the largest falcon on earth, a bird of the high Arctic that hunts ptarmigan, waterfowl, and other birds with exceptional speed and power, and Cornell Lab’s All About Birds notes the white morph — the rarest and most prized by falconers throughout history — occurs primarily in the Canadian and Greenland Arctic. Bateman’s composition gives the bird the stillness of a sentinel and the weight of the landscape it belongs to.

Giraffes Painting Wallpaper

This giraffes painting is the work of celebrated Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman, whose approach centers on capturing animals in their environment with scientific accuracy and genuine artistic feeling. A herd of giraffes moves through a warm sepia dust cloud, their spotted coats and improbably long necks rendered with the control of an artist who has spent decades studying his subjects in the field. The composition conveys the effortless physical improbability of an animal that should not be so graceful — but absolutely is.
