Holly Rothbard — Fri, 30 Jan 2015 05:00:00 +0000

Rain Showering Daisies Wallpaper shows popular perennial flowers in the rain. There are many varieties of daisies. The most well-liked are the Shasta and the African daisies. The daisy is known as “Days Eye”. The petals open at dawn and close at sunset. Its leaves may be eaten, and are frequently used in salads. These beautiful flowers covey romantic meanings, but also denote secrecy. For that reason, comes the saying “Daisies never tell”. As children, this hearty flower was used to make daisy chains!

Red-White Dahlia Flower Wallpaper

Holly Rothbard — Mon, 12 Jan 2015 05:00:00 +0000

Red-White Dahlia Flower Wallpaper shows a gorgeous flower that blooms in the summer. Dahlias come in many colors, solid and striped. They are grown from tubers. The plant was originally found in Mexico, and was named their national flower in 1963. The tubers of the versatile Dahlia were used by diabetics as a source of fructose. The flowers were also used by the Aztecs in the treatment of epilepsy. It is interesting that although the dahlia flower is stunning, it does not have any scent!

Spring Tulips Bokeh Wallpaper

Holly Rothbard — Mon, 23 Jun 2014 04:00:00 +0000

This spring tulips bokeh wallpaper captures the blooms from below — a perspective that turns tulips into architecture. Deep burgundy petals edged in cream rise on tall stems while the background dissolves into soft circles of green and gold light, the bokeh doing exactly what good bokeh does: eliminate everything except the flower. The variety appears to be a triumph or lily-flowered tulip type. The narrow pointed petals and bicolor pattern characteristic of the many cultivars bred in the Netherlands, which has been the center of global tulip cultivation since the 17th century. Keukenhof in Lisse plants seven million bulbs across 800 varieties each spring — making it the most comprehensive tulip display on Earth, and the reason the Netherlands still sets the standard.

Lotus Flower Painting Wallpaper

Holly Rothbard — Wed, 12 Mar 2014 06:28:07 +0000

This lotus flower painting wallpaper glows with an almost supernatural vividness. A perfectly circular lily pad dominates the foreground, its intricate veins catching a single bead of water at the center, while a luminous pink lotus flower unfurls at the edge — each petal tipped with jewel-like droplets. Rendered in hyper-realistic digital art style with swirling jewel-toned water beneath, it has an otherworldly beauty that’s hard to look away from. The lotus has been a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening across Buddhist and Hindu traditions for over 2,500 years — the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian holds one of the world’s finest collections of lotus symbolism in art.
